In March 2026, a powerful Kona low storm damaged South Kīhei Road near Kama‘ole II Beach Park in Kīhei, creating urgent repair needs in a heavily traveled area. The storm impacted roadway, drainage, waterline and other County infrastructure systems.
The County of Maui is expediting a coordinated, multi-department repair project, with crews actively working to restore the area safely and strengthen infrastructure for long-term resilience. The project includes roadway repairs, drainage improvements, slope and site stabilization, waterline restoration, paving and final site restoration. Completion is slated for fall 2026. Updates on our progress will be shared on this webpage.
Businesses and restaurants in the area remain open during the repair work and continue to welcome residents and visitors.
